Are they bioluminescent? Or are they fluorescing under a blacklight? As I’m watching, it’s night time in Vancouver (almost 22:30), and all of the jellies on the cam have a bluish glow.
Good question Alex. I’d bet they have a blue light on them for special effect. I’m not sure if these guys are bioluminescent, but it’s very possible they’re fluorescent. Fluorescence hasn’t been nearly as well studied as bioluminescence in jellies (which is saying something), so the range of animals with fluorescence isn’t super well known. I’ll try to catch them at night and take a look too 😀
